Questions
Is there a limit on file size?
No. The file is read a piece at a time on your device, so even files of several gigabytes can be hashed. Large files take a few seconds per gigabyte.
Which hash should I use?
The one you were given to compare with. To make a new one, SHA-256 is the usual choice: it is safe and widely used. MD5 and SHA-1 still catch broken downloads, but not deliberate changes.
Is Hash generator free?
Yes, and as often as you like. It works in your browser, so there is nothing to sign up for.
What happens to my files?
