Questions

Does it work on tables without lines?

Yes. Text set out in columns, like a bank statement, comes out in columns even where the PDF draws no lines. Tables drawn with lines also keep their merged cells, borders and shading.

Are numbers kept as numbers?

Yes. Amounts become numbers Excel can add up, with their thousands separators, decimals, currency or per cent sign. Amounts in brackets stay negative, and codes such as 007 stay as text.

How are pages laid out?

Each page of the PDF becomes its own sheet, named Page 1, Page 2 and so on. Scanned pages have no text to read, so make the PDF searchable with OCR PDF first.

Is PDF to Excel free?

It is included with our paid plans. A free account can try it a few times a month, and every paid plan includes more. Plans cost less than most.

What happens to my files?

Your uploads are deleted as soon as the job finishes. The file we make is deleted after an hour, or straight away if you press Delete now. We don't look at your files or keep copies.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in the browser on any computer, tablet or phone.

Can I use PDF to Excel from my own code?

Yes. Every tool is also an API endpoint. Send your files to POST /v1/pdf-to-excel with an API key from your Account page, then download the result when the job is done.
