Pagey is built to know as little about you and your documents as it can. It is an independent project run by one developer, who is the only person with access to its servers and data. This page says what we keep, why, and for how long.
Tools that run in your browser
Many tools, such as merge, split, rotate, protect and sign, do their work inside your browser. Their pages say so. With these tools your files never leave your device: nothing is uploaded, and we never see the files or what is in them.
Tools that run on our servers
Some tools need our servers, such as compress, Office to PDF, OCR and web page to PDF, and so does every job sent through the API. For these:
- The files you upload are deleted as soon as the job finishes.
- The file we make for you is deleted one hour after the job finishes. You can delete it sooner yourself from your history.
- We don't look at your files, share them, sell them, or use them to train anything. They are only read by the program that does the job.
- For web page to PDF, we visit the address you give us to fetch the page, as a browser would.
- For the AI tools, such as Summarise PDF, the text of your PDF (not the file) is sent to Sarvam AI, whose model, run in India, writes the answer.
While you have an account, your job history keeps a short record of each job: the tool, the file name, the size of the result, when it ran and whether it worked. It does not keep the files.
What we keep about you
- Your account: your email address and a scrambled (hashed) form of your password. We never store the password itself.
- Your plan and payments: which plan you are on, passes and credits you bought, and the payment provider's reference for each payment. Card and bank details go straight to the payment provider; we never see or store them.
- Usage: how many jobs you ran each month, so we can apply your plan's limits.
- Developer settings: your API keys (stored hashed), when and from which IP address each key was last used, and your webhook addresses with 30 days of delivery history.
- Network addresses: we use your IP address to stop abuse, such as too many sign-in attempts. These counts are kept for two days at most.
Cookies
We only use cookies the site needs to work:
- sign-in cookies, which keep you signed in;
- a cookie that remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme.
We don't show ads and don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Our visitor counts, below, use no cookies either.
Visitor counts
To learn which pages and tools people find useful, we count visits with Umami, an open-source analytics tool that we run on our own servers. No outside company receives this data. It works without cookies and without storing anything on your device.
- We record the page you visited (without anything after a “?” in its address), the site you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, and the country, region and city your network address points to.
- We count a few steps: using a tool (which tool, and whether it ran in your browser or on our servers), creating an account, opening a checkout and completing a payment.
- We never record anything about your files: not their names, sizes or contents.
- Your IP address is not stored. Together with your browser details, it is turned into a scrambled code that can't be traced back to you, so that several pages viewed on one visit count as one visitor.
- The counts are not linked to your account, and admin pages are not counted.
- If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we don't count you at all.
Who else handles your data
We only share what each service needs to do its job:
- the payment provider that takes your payments;
- an email service that sends account emails, such as confirming your address;
- Sarvam AI, whose AI model reads the text of PDFs sent to the AI tools;
- the hosting company whose servers run Pagey and keep its backups.
We don't sell your data or share it with anyone for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account details while you have an account. When you delete your account from your account settings, we delete it with your history, API keys and webhooks. Copies in our backups are replaced as the backups roll over. We may keep payment records for as long as tax law requires.
Your choices
From your account settings you can change your email address, download a copy of what we hold about your account, and delete your account at any time. For anything else, such as correcting your data, write to [email protected]. Requests like these are handled by hand, usually within a few working days, and always within the time the law allows.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and its date. If the change is significant, we will also email account holders before it applies.
